Hi I'm James.
Before weddings were invented, my photography was centered around street, documentary, creative portraits, music, a bit of fashion and some weird abstract stuff.
Then weddings were invented!
Family and friends finally came together and emotions were expressed! Food, extravagant clothes, music and dancing — weddings bring all of those things together, enabling me to indulge my previous passions in this wonderful melting pot that is a wedding day.
And then, as if it couldn’t get any better…boom! A big posh cake arrives!
I love the opportunity to get creative whilst photographing one of the most emotional days of people's lives.
The interactions between family and friends that I catch are always the most treasured.
As we’re spending the day together, it’s important to me that we have a good rapport.
I'm warm, considerate and empathetic, with a calming presence that helps people feel comfortable in front of the camera. I'm naturally at ease with people from all walks of life, which is particularly useful on a wedding day when there so many personalities and interactions happening around you.
I understand when I need to get involved, when to take control and — 90% of the time — when to step back and let your day flow.
This is something that comes naturally to me and, after 18 years of experience, its a skill I've had plenty of time to hone.
I’m a bit of an outgoing introvert. I enjoy the social side of a wedding, but I also love disappering into a creative zone and looking for those little moments that might otherwise be missed.
